Music and Movement: Nova Scotia Health and Wellness

Music and Movement

For successive years, the group has received Nova Scotia Health and Wellness grants.  In 2023-2024, we organized a "Music and Movement" course taught by Sara Adams of Middleton.  She was trained by Nova Scotia Dance's Parkinson's Project.

Speaker Series

With the assistance of a Nova Scotia Health and Wellness grant, in 2024-2025 we will be running a "Speaker's Series".  We have heard from a Pharmacist, Occupational Therapist, Dr. Maboudi (Neurologist), a Dietician, and a Professor of Kinesiology.  The speaker series is on ongoing.

Power over Parkinson's - Exercise class

Exercise Program

The group received a Parkinson Canada Care Grant to run an exercise program (Power Over Parkinson's) for Parkinson people (and carers who wish to attend).  It's a joint venture with the School of Kinesiology, Acadia University.  The program runs for 12 weeks and is held twice weekly in the Louis Millett Centre, New Minas.

Parkinson's Super Walk

Superwalk

Members of our group (Rhonda, Chris, Stephen, and Pat), organized the 2024 Superwalk and are planning the next one for September 2025.  In 2024, the walk raised $13,000 for Parkinson Canada.

We are proud to be a member of Parkinson Canada
